About Me

Educational History:

I am a 2002 graduate of Prairiland High School.  I went to Prairiland from kindergarten all the way through senior year.  I loved growing up in a small school.

I went to Paris Junior College after school to finish up my basics that I had left after taking courses in high schools.  Then I transfered to Texas A&M University of Commerce where I recieved a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in General Eduation.  I graduated from TAMU-C in May of 2006.

In 2016-2017 I went back to school to obtain a Master’s of Education Degree with a focus in reading from Texas Woman’s University.

Professional Development:

I am a qualified Reading Recovery teacher and Reading Recovery Teacher Leader.

I am also a Dylexia Therapist.

Current Position:

I started teaching at Chisum ISD in 2019. I was the reading interventionist for that year.  I worked mostly with Kinder and first grade. In May of 2022 I completed training to be a Dyslexia Therapist and I will be teaching first and second year dyslexia students along with a few literacy support groups.

Previous Position:

Before I became a MUSTANG I taught for Paris ISD.  I was with Paris for 13 years.  There I taught first and third grade. The last 4 years that I was there I was a Reading Recovery teacher then teacher leader.

Family Information:

I am married to Kasey Floyd.  We have two great children who both attend Chisum ISD at the middle school.  Mason is 14 and in 9th grade.  Kayden just turned 12 and going into the 7th grade.  They are both proud to be MUSTANGS!

Personal Information:

I love to read!  I love mystery and suspense books.

I also love my hour at the gym! My gym time is my therapy/self care time.

I love to watch my kids participate in sports.  Mason plays baseball year around along with basketball.  Kayden loves basketball, softball and is going to try out volleyball and cheer this year.

My family is always on the go and we enjoy every minute of it.
